Dream.Believe.Achieve.Repeat

You can sample music but not your dreams
you can dream a dream but that's just a dream
Like thoughts of success action is key
It's not about who you are but who you can be
so pocket your lessons and set your hands free

Accept Your Reality

We all have customized realities that we cannot run away from, we certainly have a choice to conceal them while we are around our peers and family members. Some of us create realities as coping mechanisms and lose ourselves eventually then we wonder why we are unhappy. Bear in mind that our realities interact with each other and the people we surround ourselves with either add positively to our realities or take something for their benefit. Our realities should allow us to contribute to our peers positivity through sharing of experiences as we all have stories to tell, this will also allow us to realize that we really aren’t facing life’s challenges alone besides the fact that it is therapeutic. In closing, lets accept the fact that we aren't in total control of our realities, nor should we allow ourselves to feel ashamed of them. Whether you are from a family of alcoholics, racists or atheists, you cannot disregard the impact they have in your life whether you agree with them or not, it is up to you to deal with it and keep things moving, being ignorant about it really isn't a good idea. It is our realities that have made us who we are today; they gave us hope as we've conquered various challenges that we’ve all thought we NEVER can. Adopting fantasies and parading them as if they are legit is only going to put us in harms way. I mean we can achieve things far greater than our selves if we accept our current realities and with that allow ourselves to move towards achieving our dreams and aspirations without unfinished business. With that said, lets stay legit and leave the acting with the actors/actresses.

The Bouyant Kid on Owning your dreams!

We all have our own time. Our dreams and aspirations may take our life times to achieve, and that’s okay. That is better than giving up and giving in to negativity and its screwed up ways. I’ve often wondered how moving it would be if tombstones were engraved with the deceased’s regrets; imagine that for a sec. “I always wanted to __________but never got to it”. We will all join them someday anyway, so why don’t we reduce our regrets by prioritising that which will make our lives worth living. I mean why cheat the opportunity we have by living false lives under pretence for everyone else’s entertainment. I refer to it as entertainment as that’s what shows do. In closing, I can only hope you can hear me, so Listen to yourself say this, as I try and keep trying to achieve my dreams and aspirations, I will remember that todays failure can be tomorrow’s achievement. I acknowledge that can only let that happen if I am on it like you own it in pursuit. See, Owning your dreams and aspirations means you are taking charge, standing by your trials and tribulations and certainly not letting them shift your pursuit.

Buoyant Kid on Patience

Opportunities, we’ve all heard how they may come once in a lifetime and that’s probably true. Lets note that just because it’s an opportunity, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s the right one. Too many people lose track of their dreams because they allow the wrong opportunities to steer them of course. Money is usually the cause because we want instant gratification and pursuing our dreams and aspirations isn’t instant at all.

It’s sad that we are allowing such to take place. We need to constantly remind ourselves of our dreams and aspirations, why they mean as much as they do as well as what it would mean for us to achieve them. When it comes to success, it’s easier to want than to get. Patience may be the difference between achieving it or not, so we have to keep motivated at all times. [T]he RIGHT opportunity may come once in a lifetime, its up to you to recognize it. A short cut, is exactly that: short lived and if that’s what you think your dreams/aspirations [are] worth, then by all means go for it. If you aren’t pursuing a short lived experience of the success you can live from achieving your dreams then PUT IN THE EFFORT because that’s the only way.

The road not taken should therefore be the one that undermines your dreams and aspirations, the one that’s had a lot of people live with resentment and bitterness. Do remember that it’s up to you to take charge and be the commando of your dreams and aspirations. Stay focused and patient.

Maintaining Long Term Success

Whenever we think of success, let’s not make the mistake of thinking it’s a final destination. Success requires maintenance and that’s why some people’s experience of it is short lived. We shouldn't lose sight of the drive and determination that gets us there because that will compromise the sacrifices and dedication that got us there in the first place. For now, remember that YOU know YOUR dreams and aspirations better than anyone else. Whatever perks come with achieving them should not stand a chance of making you lose sight of what got you where you are in the first place including money and fame. In closing, success has a beginning and if maintained it can be till death do you apart. Just as it doesn't have an age.

The Bouyant Kid: The Power of Persistence

Who would Oprah, Jay Z, Eminem, you name them, be without their past struggles? We see them living success and think they got it freshly baked from a success store, forgetting that they too were as young as you and I. They sought out of their circumstances not because it was easy, but because they BELIEVED in themselves.

They didn’t reach their calibre by pleasing every one, they did what they had to and kept working on their craft. Yes, they met failure along the way but they knew better than to let it take refuge over their dreams and aspirations. Excuses did not get them where they are today, actions did because they valued today more than they did tomorrow. [Y]ou owe it to yourself to love, respect and believe in yourself enough to put in all the effort required to make things happen while in pursuit of your success. It’s easy to want success, I mean who doesn’t? Wanting it is not enough , it can never be. So don’t let your struggles turn off your dreams and aspirations. Be true to you and as Dory from Finding Nemo put it, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming” be it at the shallow or deep end.

What We Can Learn from Pink & the Brain

If you know Pinky and the Brain, then you know that they KEEP TRYING to take over the world EVERYNIGHT. Although they fail before the end of each episode, Brain always comes up with a different plan to achieve their world domination aspiration for each episode. They live a trial and error lifestyle in pursuit of succeeding, so why can’t we do the same? Well, our societies see failure as a shameful thing so when we do we think about what people are going to say/think about us, we also torture ourselves with solution-less questions like “what if?” We need to realise that sometimes we need to lose to find a new perspective for how we are going to achieve success.

In sport, when a team loses a match, they go back to the drawing board to evaluate themselves and to find a way forward. The only thing that keeps each team going is that they are willing to KEEP TRYING, and they know they wont always get it right, but either way they don’t let failure get in the way of how they play their matches.

A star is still a star even if it’s hidden by darkness due to distance. We are here now so why can’t we open our door to success before we meet our unpredictable end? Why should we continue to be the spectators of other people’s achievements when we can join them? Why must the next persons views be the slow poison that keeps us from working towards our dreams? Why doesn’t failure mean, just keep pushing than sit down in shame? Well… I don’t know about you but I would rather struggle working towards my success than struggle because of people’s views/opinions as well as the fear of failing. I am here now, so I will only stop trying when I find myself in a casket, until then, I will strive to live success.

The Buoyant Kid on New Year

Life is not based on years, as much as we hope the next year turns out better. Yes we may be approaching another 365 days of more trials and tribulations, but we cant invest our hope in a year when we have not given it reason to be any better than our present one. I for one do not believe in new year’s resolutions, as not only are they cliché, but they are a two minute hype, so five minutes later they are forgotten. I believe in setting resolutions when one is ready for the commitment required to maintain them. That weight you've been trying to wish away, that hit song you’ve never bothered to record because you believe in tomorrow and not now and what about that degree that you have no interest in but you feel stuck in because you aren’t following dream, it wont happen during the two minutes you are enthusiastic on making it happen just because you feel it should be one of your New Years resolutions.

I mean, can’t hope that that will all disappear in the next year if you have not begun making changes today. We can never go wrong with EFFORT; I mean whom do we expect to make our resolutions take effect? It certainly can’t be that New Year we are looking forward to, can it? So unless New Year is a person and has his/her own resolutions, they business is has nothing to do with our own. In closing, lets stop this wishful thinking that comes with a new year, every year. Nothing will change unless a miracle happens or you put EFFORT in to make all your resolutions and dreams happen. This world gives us oxygen to inhale, we cant expect it to fund and run our dreams and aspirations, come on! So as we head towards a new year, lets go into it with no expectations from it, but expectations of what we have the potential of bringing to it with our EFFORT and COMMITMENT in turning it into the year we first encounter our own great potential as we live success like its free.

The Bouyant Kid on ALI

Muhammad Ali is one man that we should all draw some inspiration from. He is a perfect ambassador for SELF-BELIEF, something we can all improve on. He was quoted saying “I am the greatest, I said that even before I knew I was”. Doubt had no reign over him yet we let it rent several rooms in our SELF-BELIEF. Once we let the pest called doubt rent the rooms we should have reserved for success, excuse hires them and our dreams are then left on the back burner. With a great dose of SELF-BELIEF, COMMITMENT and HARDWORK, we would be investing our time and efforts on a worthy cause in pursuit of SUCCESS.

Do note that there are RISKS and SACRIFICES that we will need to make; hanging onto irrelevance is injustice to our potential. In closing, I would rather struggle in success than in hardship... how would you prefer it? We need to be optimistic to shame doubt and therefore reject excuses in the process. Lets know that we are ABLE and take on challenges knowing we are CONQUERORS. No one goes to war feeling like they are losers; they go in believing they are the stronger and better side.

That is the attitude we need to adopt when we are pursuing our dreams and aspirations. Ask yourself, why is it that when we begin our journey to achieving we end up with our SELF-BELIEF left in a recession when it could be gaining momentum? Why cant I?  Why don’t I? Are questions we should continue asking ourselves. With our hearts pumping opportunity while we breathe chance, this world will witness our success because we are ABLE!

The Buoyant Kid on Distractions

Imagine how great life would be if the only thing that made us high was achieving, and being an addict meant being time conscious, living successfully. We have so much irrelevance in our lives; I mean social networks being one. We can update our statuses but we aren’t updating our lives, its amazing how wrong our priorities are. Quoting a man like the late Steve Jobs because his words make sense in the present, but not enough for us to question ourselves to find the relevance of his word and how we can then apply our findings to the dreams and aspirations we have not attended to yet.

We can dream big yet we give priority to irrelevance that prevents us from doing big. Until we acknowledge the irrelevant things that are leeching on us, we are at war with our eyes closed. In closing, if you not in prison, at a hospital or chronically ill at home or six feet under you are more than able to do something about those dreams and aspirations. From TODAY, tomorrow will be for your progression and results so DON’T PROCRASTINATE! The hangovers and the cloud nines may be great for the moment but a waste of time to a dream worth pursuing.

Yes, you only live once and you want to have fun, but if that fun is time based and living Success is not. See once you reach your destination, comfort is a compliment from all the hard work. That comfort means time is just a measurement and not a determinant of how you live your life. That’s where we want to be because we only live once.

The Buoyant Kid: Eliminating Laziness

This world is made up of more people who aren’t happy with where they are in their lives, than those who are. In a perfect world, we would all be living the lives we’ve dreamt and aspired to live, but who would be the bank tellers, waiters and cleaners…?

Circumstances (usually finances and validation) may be the greatest barriers that people face when they are in pursuit of being the dream catches they have the potential to be. Another side to this would be priorities. You want a promotion/recognition but you aren’t doing anything about improving your skills/qualifications. Whilst you complain about how you somehow deserve better. There are people who study part time or practice more often. Being oblivious to how hard other people are working towards building their staircase to reach their dreams, you remain merely as a witness to their hard work paying off. In closing, don’t be a victim of your circumstances, be the conqueror.

Laziness has never and will never pay off. Success doesn’t come from complaining about the situation you are in so reduce the negativity and set your priorities straight. No one can make you as happy as you can, so you have to step up or shut up, don’t spread negativity. So when you find yourself unhappy in the position you are in, stop the complaining and get to the planning.

The Buoyant Kid: High Standards

It’s easy to have high standards but it’s hard to have them maintained whenever we run into a situation that seems too great. [Think of a] coffee bean. It can be thrown in hot or cold water and no matter how extreme the temperature, it dissolves and its flavour remains just as good. We need to adapt to all the situations we face and remain in our “goodness”. Failure may not be an option, but it can be a challenge.

No challenge should let us lose sight of who we are and leave our dreams pending for all the tomorrows we never seem to get to. Age shouldn’t be an excuse since; there are people who can mentor us closer to us being the dream catchers we are meant to be. Maybe Jay Z is not a realistic figure to have as a mentor, but he can be a source of inspiration. There are other people living their dreams at different magnitudes who may be able to guide you in your pursuit of dream catching. In closing, we are not our failures and mistakes, we are our perseverance and determination.

Tomorrow should be left for results and not for the work, today is worth the effort. Excuses are insults to the dreams that can bring us GENUINE happiness. Don’t let yourself live a life of missed dreams and regrets. Take charge and be the driver of the, 'strive for lived dreams' vehicle because it will never break down and leave you in the land of missed opportunities. We often hear how opportunities may come once in a lifetime, making your dreams is one of your greatest opportunities that life gives you the chance to pursue.

Wow! Who is the Buoyant Kid?????

I came across The Buoyant Kid last week. A mysterious individual who for some reason  writes under an alias. I'm not sure why this is, but I was more intrigued by what they had to say than their identity. I tried to Google their name but found no results that could help me identify this individual. Long story short I came across a piece of their writing that made me look at life and want MORE from it. This piece meant a great deal to me because I had just attended an Eminem concert. Eminem being one of the people I look up to in my desired profession. Anyway without further ado; Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, The Buoyant Kid:

Imagine being in a packed concert and you've been standing screaming your voice till it got [hoarse]. The artists performing are your favorites you know their songs as if you wrote them yourself. Now here's something to think about, you were just an audience member maybe their biggest fan. You were a witness to how following your dream is, yet you don't realize that you are part of what was once someone's dream. We live life believing we need to do things the generic way, after high school it's tertiary and then work. Well that's not how it always plays out.

We can't all be meant to do things the generic way, but our societies see fault when you do things your way. Your way may not necessarily be planned, it may be a result to a few decisions. Following the dream you had to exhibit  your work among the best in the industry. The dream you were told that the sky shouldn't be the limit of. The dream you've been chasing instead of studying something to please your parents and family.

You are not the same calibre as the people in suits with their degrees. What does that say about societies that are hypocritical? When you're young you can dream, just as you believed in Father Christmas, but when you get older you are meant to forget it all and do things the generic way.

In closing, with life's certainties, be certain you are doing things in your custom way.

Following your dreams may be the hardest test you've come across. Remember how being an audience member is and perform on your own stage. You might be your only audience member in the beginning but with zeal, you are bound to reach a breakthrough. If it means working during the day and doing what you love at night, well, you'll do it.

Remember you have to live with yourself. don't be your own worst enemy because you followed a dream that was not yours.
