A Picture Worth a Thousand Words

Fitness Friday

I constantly have a conversation with someone who would ask me how long I'm on a diet for and I always respond with something along the lines of:

People are sometimes under the impression that to lose weight takes a great deal of effort for the next few weeks but then afterwards you can relax , but that's not how it works. If you have battled with your weight and want to either lose or gain weight you have to make a complete lifestyle change. Staying away from your favorite desserts is not something I would encourage. Instead have less of it or allocate an 'off day' where you can indulge (not overly) in your favorite foods. Making a lifestyle change should never feel like a job, but you must make the sacrifice. If you keep eating the same things and leading the same lifestyle you're not going to lose that weight.

Take control, make the sacrifice and make it last.

Even with the exercise make it a part of your everyday living.

Movie Quote of the Week

Tired of doing day jobs with no thanks for what I do. I'm sure I must be someone now I'm gonna find out who, [you gotta] do anything you wanna do!

My Exclusive Interview with DGV

Please allow me to share snippets of my exclusive interview with Da-Grape-Vine.com, a hip hop website based in Africa but has roots all over the world:

How did you get into the music biz and how has your journey been?

When I was 13 or 14, I asked my dad to buy me a pair of Levi's Jeans because my friends had them and I wanted to fit in. Instead he bought me music CDs and among them was a Tupac Album. That's when my life changed completely. I wrote out the lyrics to the songs attempting to perfect my writing. At a later stage I heard Eminem rap and it's hard to explain but I just felt like I belong in the music world. There was no turning back I had a vision and recurring dreams so I told myself this is it, it has to be.

You've opened up for a lot of international acts, how do these features come about and what's been your most memorable show so far?

Hard work and perseverance. Sometimes I go 2 days without sleep. I need to make my dreams a reality so I work really hard behind the scenes. When we supported Nas, who is one of my favorite artists ever, I literally did not get sleep for many days on end just working trying to secure the slot, and the work paid off.

Final Words?

A great man is a sentence, when Steve Jobs passed away they said here lies a man who changed the face of technology and made our lives more comfortable with his innovative inventions. When you die, what one sentence will sum up your contribution to mankind?

Wise Words: 82 year old looking back on her life - A MUST READ

OG Mandino shares an interesting story:

One final secret and I pray that you think about this tonight and tomorrow and next week as you and all the rest of us keep chasing after those two elusive butterflies called success and happiness. Please take this away with you let it be my late valentine to all of you with my love.

Failures spend so much of their time reliving their past mistakes or worrying about tomorrow’s problems that they let this beautiful day which is all we have, slip away.

An 82 year old looking back on her life;

“If I had my life to live over I’d try to make more mistakes next time. I would relax. I would limber up. I would be crazier than I’d been on this trip. I know very few things I’d take seriously anymore. I’d certainly be less hygienic. I would take more chances. I would take more trips, I would scale more mountains, I would swim more rivers and I would watch many more sunsets. I would eat more ice cream and fewer beans. I would have more actual troubles and fewer imaginary ones. You see I was one of those people who lived sensibly and sanely hour after hour and day after day. I had my moments and if I had it to do it over again i’d have many more of them. In fact I’d try not to have anything else, just moments, one after another, instead of living so many days ahead of my day. I’d be one of those people who never went anywhere without a thermometer, a hot water bottle, a goggle, a rain coat and a parachute. If I had it to do all over again I’d travel lighter, much lighter than I have. I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and I’d stay that way later in the fall and I would ride more merry go rounds and catch more gold rings and greet more people and pick more flowers and dance more. If I had it to do all over again but you see, I don’t.”

Like that old Japanese mother breaking branches I hope I have been able to break a couple for you today. Mr X and Miss X if you’re out there please don’t give up you’re much too precious to lose. Grab a life preserver and please all of you, don’t allow that neighbour leaning over the back fence to make fun of your dreams or that cynical worker to tell you that your goals will never be accomplished. With friends like that you don’t need any enemies. They wanna be buried in failure let them just don’t let them drag you down with them. Just remember you’re a special miracle and your destiny is in your hands and your hands alone.

I love you all, you have a good life.
God Bless You.

Wise Words from the Anonymous

Believe in yourself and your values,
Don't sell out when things go wrong.
Don't let anything get you down,
always bounce back up

Set goals for your future,
never settle for anything less.
Realize that there are others in the world,
with much bigger problems than you.

Appreciate the good things in your life,
and be thankful for the time,
you have with your loved ones.
Spend more time with your family and friends

Appreciate the simple things in life
and don't get caught up in material things.

Movie Quote of the Week

You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.
